Warner Avenue

Westwood, CA

A music composer and a writer wanted space for their family to entertain indoors and out. We carved open their historic 1920’s neoclassical home, keeping the period details but inserting modern elements. Lime washed walls accented with decorative raised moldings contrast with light oak flooring and cabinets. Opposite the traditional formalism of the home, we conceived a simple rectilinear ADU clad in rough sawn board and batten wood siding. The ADU houses a music room, gym and guest suite, and features a rooftop astronomy deck accessed via a metal spiral stair. The two structures flank a new linear swimming pool and wood lounging deck.
